For more than 35 years, the Nicollet Knights Chess Club (formerly Metcalf Masters) has proven to be a powerhouse in the chess community in both the State of Minnesota and in the Nation. Since 1983, it has won 19 National Junior High School titles and more than 25 State Junior High School Championships.Every year, kids and parents work together to raise money to help defray the costs of participating in the chess club. These costs include local tournament fees, lessons from a chess master and travel expenses for attending the National Junior High Chess Championships.  Nicollet Knights Chess Club is seeking donations to reduce these financial barriers so that all players may achieve their chess goals regardless of their economic circumstances.

Nicollet Knights Chess Club has now partnered with Foundation 191, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, to facilitate 100% tax-deductible donations through Foundation 191. All donations made on NicolletChess.com will benefit the Nicollet Middle School Chess Program when you note on the donation that it is for Nicollet Chess.These kids work hard because they love the game of chess! Countless studies have shown the amazing benefits that chess has on a child’s development. Nicollet Knights Chess Club knows how chess can exercise and grow the brain, improve mental health and memory, and make people smarter and more creative individuals.
